Below are some of the ways we’re working to ensure you have a safe and trouble-free journey.
Police and transport officers regularly patrol trains, train stations, bus and ferry services.
Transport officers work in conjunction with the police and have the power to:
- conduct ticket and concession entitlement checks
- ask your name and address
- ask to see evidence which confirms your identity and address
- issue cautions
- issue penalty notices
- lawfully detain you until your name and address are verified or the police are engaged.
Transport officers can also assist customers who have questions about public transport.
CCTV and Help Points
A security control centre operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with communication links to transport officers, police and emergency services.
More than 10,000 CCTV cameras are utilised to monitor the Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink Intercity networks.
More than 750 Emergency Help Points have been installed on the Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink Intercity networks, with at least one at each station.
If you press an Emergency Help Point on any station platform, you’re visible on live CCTV and can get assistance from a trained Sydney Trains operator.
